hands-on session in the computer lab
|
The Computer Animation of Dance: An Aid to Notation in the 21st Century Session led by Rhonda RYMAN This hands-on session will introduce basic techniques for animating dance using Life Forms® Dance Studio. Participants will learn how to create and modify positions, timing, walks, jumps, and turns, and will explore how animation may be used to complement the teaching, learning, and use of notation. Animation from libraries of Ballet and Modern Dance will be presented, excerpted from CD-ROMs created by the presenter and marketed by Credo Interactive, the Makers of Life Forms®. The Ballet Moves CD includes 11 palettes with over 350 basic ballet positions, plus animated sequences based on these palettes (18 barre exercises, 26 centre enchaînements, and 3 excerpts from the classical repertoire). Modern Dance Moves, now being developed in cooperation with Danny Lewis, will include palettes and animations based on Lewis's book, The Illustrated Dance Technique of José Limón, (with Labanotation by Mary Corey). |
