Interface Project Session led by Rhonda RYMAN & Ilene FOX Dance Notation Bureau, working with Rhonda Ryman of Waterloo University, Credo Interactive, Inc. and Tom Calvert of Tech BC, is creating a computer interface to translate documented movement between LabanWriter and Life Forms, an animation program. The completed first stage of the project allows simple locomotion and gestures, notated using LabanWriter, to be translated and seen in Life Forms animation. Once all stages of the project are completed, the interface will be an important tool for educators, students, stagers, and anyone who wants to see the movement recorded in Labanotation scores. The presentation will describe the progress made in the last two years, the process followed and the problems that arose. |
