Interactive design project on Labanotation
Geraldine REY, Marion BASTIEN

This cd-rom prototype from Geraldine Rey is a final project for a 5th year diploma in interactive design at Ecole supérieure d’art et de design d’Amiens.

The cd-rom is in 3 sections: body, space, time. Each section containing little interactive sequences, to initiate the user on the basic principles of notation.
Each sequence is based on a short example of notation associated with made-to-measure videos.
The user will be able to interact either with one of the component of the notation, the result of his manipulation showing up on the video; or with the video, the resulting notation showing up on the side.
Interactions will be simple, such as drag and drop of a sign in a body column, lengthen and shorten a sign, rotate a pin sign.
Each sequence will link toward additional point(s): notation theory explanations, 3D spatial models, videos of choreographic excerpts illustrating the movement topic context, short texts on dance.
The notation samples and the theoretical framework on notation have been done by Marion Bastien.
The cd-rom is developed with the authoring software Director, and could be shown up in separate modules on the web, with Shockwave.
