on Laban Archives

Held in conjunction with the Society for Dance Research (SDR) and the
European Association of Dance Historians (EADH)
Researching Rudolf Laban’s work and legacy requires first re-tracing
his peripatetic life to determine where relevant materials are to be found,
and then following the paths taken by students and colleagues who developed
his work in a variety of disciplines. There is no single, comprehensive
archive for Laban studies. Instead, several public collections, particularly
in Europe, hold archives linked to Laban, his colleagues, and the Laban
heritage.
As the closing event in its biennial conference, ICKL has organised a
seminar that brings together the archivists and curators responsible for
these Laban-related collections. Held in conjunction with the Society
for Dance Research, the seminar will involve presentations by the archivists
about their collections, and a panel discussion taking questions from
the audience.
