The
International Council of Kinetography Laban/Labanotation (ICKL)
will hold its 24th Biennial Conference at LABAN, London, UK,
July 29 to August 5, 2005.
As one of Europes leading institutions for dance artist
training and one of the worlds largest venues for contemporary
dance, LABAN sets an exciting stage for the 2005 ICKL conference.
Its new state-of-the-art facility won the Royal Institute of
British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize in 2003.
It is also particularly significant for ICKL to be hosted by
LABAN, due to the common history of both organizations. ICKL
was created at the initiative of Lisa Ullmann in 1959, and held
its very first conference at the Laban Art of Movement Centre,
now LABAN.
The 2005 ICKL conference will focus on making connections between
the various Laban based systems using innovative and interdisciplinary
methods as applied world-wide. Conference sessions will include
papers, workshops and panel discussions exploring the practical,
creative/educational and philosophical applications of Laban-based
systems including, but not limited to Labanotation, Laban Movement
Analysis, Motif Description, Choreutics and Dynamics, in areas
such as movement research, dance documentation, technology,
international cultural exchange, stylistic analysis, teaching,
performance and directing.
You will find on this site information and updated details on
the forthcoming conference. If you have any questions or comments
concerning the ICKL conference, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
