The
International Council of Kinetography Laban/Labanotation (ICKL)
will hold its 25th Biennial Conference at Escuela Nacional de
Danza Clásica y Contemporánea, Mexico.
The 25th ICKL conference will be held in Mexico City, hosted
by the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea
(National School of Classic and Contemporary Dance), July 30
to August 4, 2007 (arrival July 29 - departure August 5).
This is the first ICKL conference to be held in Central/Latin
America.
The Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea
(National School of Classic and Contemporary Dance) strives
to be a leader in Mexico in dance training. The ENDCC is officially
recognized as Mexicos national training center for dance.
The ENDCC has developed a rich and sophisticated training program
that includes Motif Writing, Labanotation and Laban Movement
Analysis.
The ENDCC is located in the National Arts Center (CENART). In
1995 the Mexican Government opened a center for the arts schools.
The CENART houses the professional Drama, Film, Dance, Arts
and Music Schools. Included are an arts research center, the
Library of the Arts, two drama theaters, two dance theatres,
galleries for exhibitions, a concert hall and several movie
theaters.
Professional dance studies began in Mexico City in 1932 with
the opening of the Escuela de Plastica Dinámica that
later was called Escuela Nacional de Danza (Nationa Dance School).
That School laid the foundations of the other professional dance
schools in Mexico.
Some important personalities that have contributed to the development
of Dance in Mexico are Waldeen, Anna Sokolow, Alicia Markova,
Anton Dolin and Michel Descombey. |
