SESSIONS Mixed session - Paper and workshop Motif Composition experiences: nothing is always the Same Thing SASTRE, Cibele – Brasil This mixed session of paper presentation and workshop is an opportunity to share the experience of composition and improvisation procedures developed with Grupo de Risco, (a group of students from the Dance Education Course at State University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil) in a research called Same Thing. It is an artistic experiment with the use of Laban's motifs as sync tasks for improvisation and composition of a piece. The process develops different layers of work in terms of therapy, education and art studies. Choreology, Somatic Education and the application of Foucault’s theories in Education are bases for this research. The paper runs about this process, the dance composition forms we found out through this path and its questions. The questions are related to the different interpretation that the dancers give in performing one same motif. It is the Same Thing but it is not. It shows how different we are in trying to connect to one same idea. The emancipation of the subject through this experience in opposition to the disciplined character of the “body-building techniques” emerge from a composition procedure that talks at first about abstract movement and does not necessarily need dance trained people. Dramaturgy comes a posteriori, emerging from movement construction. LMA content help tailoring the movement meaning throughout the piece. The workshop will start with a poem from Brazilian Poet Mario Quintana that will become movement. This movement will be notated in a motif made by the group. We might separate Body, Space, Effort and Shape to have an easy sense of sync to find connections into this Same Thing. A group sequence will come out from this experience. Members of the Grupo de Risco are expected to be sharing this experience with everybody in a kind of Lecture Demonstration and workshop activity. Cibele Sastre is a CMA – LIMS NY 1999 – Granted by the Ministry of Culture of Brasil. Post Graduated in Consciência Corporal – Dança at FAP - PR where Laban studies got deep Space Harmony and Effort approach with Chilean teachers Carlos Delgado and Marucha Solari that studied with Sigurd Leeder, and BF™ studies with Regina Miranda. Cibele is Bachelor in Drama– UFRGS where Laban studies are mostly referred to the Action Drives. Professor at UERGS/FUNDARTE Dance Education Course, at UNISINOS Physical Education Course, at PUCRS post graduation Dance Course. Dance teacher since 1986, professor since 2000. Professional dancer and actrice since 1989 and choreographer since 1996. Took part of Anima dance company directed by Eva Schul – Hanya Holm's student in the 60's. Took early classes with Maria Amélia Barbosa, Nina Verchinina's student. Takes part of the collective artEria – dance artists collaborators, this year producing Conexão Sul - South Connection– Dance Meeting of Contemporary Artists of the Southern Region held in Porto Alegre.
