SESSIONS
Paper
FERREIRA REIS, Andreia Maria -
Brasil
This study associates Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis-LMA and Authentic
Movement technique to create a performance grounded in the body, its movement
principles and images. Following the model of the Moebius Band, this research
connects inner/outer in the performer´s body during the creative process, extensive to
performance (understood as an on-going process). Inner/outer implies the dynamic
continuum between Body and Space (connected through Shape and Effort), and
between mover and observer (in Authentic Movement). Dance Theatre techniques were
also used as compositional tools, especially regarding the constant interplay between the
arts. For this reason, the process included dancers, actors and fine artists, all of them
working at both practical and theoretical levels (at university).
Andreia Maria Ferreira Reis holds a B.A. in Physical Education from State
University of São Paulo, and an M.A. in Performing Art from Federal University of
Bahia, where she has been studying LMA under Professor Ciane Fernandes, CMA.
Since childhood, she has studied theater and classical ballet, recently integrating them in
performances at SESI (Social Service of Industries), São Paulo.
